Student Government Association

MISSION

As the official student representation organization of ETI Technical College of Niles, the Student Government shall serve as an effective channel of communication among students, faculty, and administration. The Student Government is dedicated to helping students overcome obstacles that hinder academic achievement. In addition, Student Government  fosters personal growth and enrichment among students through various educational workshops, professional seminars, and fun-filled activities.

LEADERSHIP

ETI’s Student Government Association (SGA) is the official student representation organization run entirely by and for students. The SGA is responsible for maintaining an effective channel of communication among students, faculty, and administration. All students are eligible to run for SGA offices. The SGA plans different events throughout the year.

· President: The President serves as the primary spokesperson for the representatives of the Student Government and the student body. The President will chair Student Government meetings; ensuring that weekly meetings are held and be primarily responsible for all Student Government directives. The President will maintain professional relationships with the administration and the faculty. The President will have the power to call emergency meetings of the student government with adequate notices, delegate tasks as needed to the Student Government members and be authorized to conduct the business of Student Government between academic semesters or in an emergency as authorized by the Dean of Student Affairs or Director of Education.

· Vice President: The Vice President fulfills the duties of the President in his/her absence, assists the President in the executions of their duties and becomes the President in the extended absence or removal of the President. The Vice President is responsible for seeking, creating, and implementing student activities. The Vice President is responsible for assisting with the development of the school newsletter at least 10 hours a month.

· Secretary: The Secretary will be required to maintain a permanent record of attendance of members, keep records of all actions taken by members of the Student Government, record and track meeting minutes for all official and emergency Student Government meetings, track attendance at Student Government sponsored events, maintain an ongoing record of Student Government events, coordinate survey distribution and survey data collection, distribute accurate copies of the constitution and by-laws to each member of Student Government, coordinate all College announcements, make approved amendments to the constitution, and will be familiar with operating procedures during the meetings.

· Treasurer: The Treasurer serves as the chief financial officer for the Student Government. The Treasurer will maintain permanent financial records and give a financial report of Student Government expenditures at every Student Government meeting. The Treasurer will submit a weekly financial report to the Student Service Coordinator. The Treasurer will be responsible for creating and maintaining spending budgets, as well as setting financial goals and benchmarks. The Treasurer reserves the right to deny requests for money.
