The objective of the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration diploma program is to provide the technical skills necessary for entry-level employment in highly technical HVAC/R fields such as: domestic, commercial/industrial, air conditioning, heat pump, automotive air, thermoelectric, solar energy, special devices, and applications.
This program will cover introductory topics, including: gas heat (hydronic heat and electric heat), arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, D/C and A/C circuits, Ohm’s law, series and parallel circuits, diagnosing, repairing refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating.
The basic principles of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning are stressed to help trainees attain the technical competency needed to enter the HVAC/R work force installing, servicing, and maintaining HVAC/R systems.
This course of study applies up-to-date EPA methods of maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating systems. Introduction to sheet metal layout, process, problem solving, duct-work assembly, and insulation.
Trainees prepare for certification testing on EPA 609 Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning, EPA 608 Universal Certifications, ESCO Hydro-Carbon Refrigerants, Basic Refrigeration and Charging Procedures, and System Diagnostic and Troubleshooting.
